Belvoir St Theatre
Belvoir St Theatre is an Australian theatre company venue in Sydney, New South Wales. The venue in Belvoir Street, Surry Hills previously operated as the Nimrod Theatre, and was founded as "'Belvoir St" in 1984 by Sue Hill and Chris Westwood. It is the home of the theatre company Belvoir.
The building was purchased by a syndicate of people,〔 and there are currently 600 owners,〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=About )〕 including noted actors, directors, writers and performers : Robyn Archer, Gillian Armstrong, Peter Carey, Judy Davis, Mel Gibson, Max Gillies, Nicole Kidman, Sam Neill, Patrick White, David Williamson, Neil Armfield, Michael Willesee and Colin Friels. Previous owners on the books have also included the late Dame Joan Sutherland, Ruth Cracknell, Gwen Plumb, Dorothy Hewett and Patrick White.
Renovations costing around $11.6 million commenced in 2005 and were delayed in 2006 with the discovery of asbestos in the building's roof. The theatre reopened in October 2006 with the Sydney season of ''It Just Stopped'' by Stephen Sewell.〔
